Design a plate of healthy high-protein foods, sit down to eat without distractions, save carbage for the end of your meal, eat slowly, savor each bite, be thankful. Also, a recipe for homemade mayo.
I did not realize when I first started IF that there would be joy and healing down the line. All I heard was fast in order to eat all the things. IF eventually taught me to find pleasure in feasting on real foods and flavors. The commercial junk is far less enticing. I love the plating approach, really seeing the food, tasting each element, and savoring both the food and the rest of meal times. It's a skill I missed out on.
The thing that makes me the happiest is when people say they've found joy in the new approach. That is so great! That means that you'll stick with it long term. Blessings!
I am recovering from some very serious health issues since 2020. Could this help me gain weight? I'm stuck at 148lb and just can't seem to gain any more. Any suggestions? I'm a male, 73 years old come mid-october, 5ft 8inchs (I was 5" 10' but lost 2 inches while in hospital, and I have SBS (short boil syndrome) Any help would be welcome.
Thanks so much for the homemade mayo recipe! I was a lifelong Best Foods-only snob, but this tastes waaaay better, and of course is better for you. I did tone down the vinegar to 1 teaspoon and omit mustard for my kids. I go back and forth between using avocado oil or light olive oil, sometimes just blending the two if I'm low on both. The first time I made it, I used EVOO, and nobody was really a fan of the strong taste. We ate it up anyway, but the next batch was soooo good!
Have you ever tried the immersion blender method? Trish Prado told me about it. It's amazing because you just put all the ingredients in your jar that you're going to store it in and slowly draw the blender up through all the oil. It takes maybe a minute instead of several minutes like in the food processor. And you don't have to transfer the mayo to a jar, then clean up your food processor. Win-win!
"Whenever possible, avoid eating in the car, at sports games, while standing over the sink, while walking out the door, walking around the mall or any other on-the-go situation. " I just realize this is my daily routine!

I have love the concept of plating. My favorite way to do this is take my beautiful plate outside and eat in nature with no distractions.

The best way to put on weight is to eat protein and a ton of fat. Pour melted sticks of butter over your meat.
